In-Home Senior Pet Care
Gentle, in-home veterinary care focused on comfort, mobility, and quality of life for aging pets in western Snohomish County and surrounding areas.
As pets age, changes can be gradual and easy to miss. This in-home senior pet care consultation is designed to slow things down, look at the full picture, and provide thoughtful guidance—without the stress of a clinic visit.
These appointments are ideal for families who want a more in-depth, unrushed evaluation of their senior pet’s comfort, function, and day-to-day wellbeing.
What is an in-home senior pet care visit?
A senior care visit is an extended, in-home veterinary consultation focused on proactive support for aging dogs and cats.
The goal is to identify concerns early, improve comfort, and help you better understand how your pet is aging—before issues become urgent.
This visit may be a good fit if your pet is:
- Slowing down or having more difficulty with mobility
- Showing stiffness, weakness, or signs of arthritis
- Sleeping more or interacting differently at home
- Developing lumps or bumps you would like evaluated
- Experiencing changes in appetite, weight, or behavior
- Aging overall, and you want a more thorough discussion than is typically possible in a clinic visit
When should I schedule a senior care visit?
Anytime you are noticing changes—or even if you just want to be proactive.
This visit can be helpful if your pet is slowing down, showing subtle changes in behavior or comfort, developing lumps, or simply getting older and you want guidance on what to watch for.
You don’t need to wait for things to feel urgent. This visit is designed to support you early, so you can feel more confident about your pet’s care moving forward.
Who this service is for
This service is a good fit for:
- Senior dogs and cats (typically dogs 7+ years, depending on breed and size and cats 10+ years)
- Pets who are stable but showing age-related changes
- Families who want proactive guidance and a deeper understanding of their pet’s comfort and needs
- Pets who are anxious, uncomfortable, or stressed in a clinic setting
Who this service is not for
Heartkind Home Veterinary Care is a mobile, comfort-focused practice and not a full-service veterinary clinic.
This service is not appropriate for:
- Vaccines or routine preventative care
- Spay/neuter or surgical procedures
- Emergency or urgent care needs
- Ongoing primary care management
I strongly recommend maintaining a relationship with a full-service primary care veterinarian for wellness care, vaccinations, diagnostics that require a clinic setting, and urgent concerns.
Senior care visits are designed to complement—not replace—your regular veterinarian.
How this differs from quality-of-life and hospice visits
Senior care visits are intended for pets who are aging, but not necessarily nearing the end of life.
- Quality-of-life consultations focus on evaluating comfort and helping guide decision-making when more significant concerns or decline are present
- Hospice and palliative care are designed for pets with advanced disease or decline, focusing on ongoing comfort and support
Senior care is different—it is proactive, focused on early changes, and centered on helping your pet age as comfortably as possible.
What is included in a senior care visit
Each visit includes both a medical assessment and a detailed, unhurried conversation with a written follow up care plan.
Depending on your pet’s needs, this may include:
- Full in-home physical examination
- Mobility and comfort assessment
- Discussion of behavior, appetite, sleep, and daily routines
- Evaluation of your pet within their home environment
- Review of current medications, supplements, and medical history
- Guidance on arthritis, chronic pain, cognitive changes, and other senior concerns
- Clear recommendations and next steps for monitoring and care
When appropriate, additional services may be offered during the visit, such as:
- Fine needle aspirates (FNA) of masses
- Bloodwork and basic diagnostics
Any additional services are optional and discussed with you during the visit.

Why choose an in-home visit for a senior pet?
Many age-related changes are best understood in the home environment, where pets are most comfortable.
An in-home visit allows for:
- Less stress for your pet
- More accurate assessment of mobility and behavior
- A longer, more thoughtful conversation
- Personalized recommendations based on your pet’s daily life
Fees
Senior care visits are offered at a flat fee of $350.
This fee reflects the time, in-home examination, and individualized guidance provided during the visit.
If labwork or additional procedures are recommended, those are optional and priced separately.
A thoughtful approach to aging
Aging pets benefit from a different pace of care—one that allows time to notice subtle changes, ask questions, and think ahead.
My goal is to help you better understand your pet’s changing needs and support them with clarity, compassion, and practical guidance.
