Quality of Life & Care Consultations
Support for aging and seriously ill pets with calm, unhurried care at home
If you’re unsure where to start, this is a gentle first step.
Quality of life and care consultations provide guidance when you’re noticing changes in your pet and feeling unsure what to do next. These visits focus on comfort, daily well-being, and helping families think through options with clarity and support, without pressure to make immediate decisions.
These consultations can also serve as the starting point for ongoing care, including senior pet support, hospice, and palliative care.
What is a Quality of Life Consultation?
A quality of life consultation is a supportive appointment designed to help families assess how their pet is feeling and functioning day to day. Together, we talk through physical comfort, mobility, appetite, behavior, and the changes you may be noticing at home.
These consultations are especially helpful when decisions feel unclear, emotions are high, or you want professional guidance before determining next steps.
These visits are not only about assessment, but also about creating a plan to support your pet’s comfort and quality of life moving forward.
When is a Quality of Life & Care Consultation Helpful?

- You want guidance before considering hospice or other care
- You’re feeling unsure what your pet needs or what to do next
This visit is about understanding and support — not rushing decisions.

Common Questions
How do I know if this is the right type of appointment?
If you’re unsure what your pet needs or what to do next, this is a good place to start. These consultations are designed to provide guidance and support, and we can talk through next steps together.
Can this visit turn into euthanasia if needed?
Yes. If, during the visit, you feel that euthanasia is the right decision, we can discuss options and, in many cases, proceed at that time.
You can also learn more about what to expect during an in-home euthanasia visit.
Should I choose a virtual or in-home consultation?
Virtual consultations are a helpful starting point for guidance and discussion. In-home visits allow for a hands-on exam and more direct support if your pet needs medical care or treatment.
What if I’m not ready to make a decision?
That’s completely okay. These visits are not about rushing decisions—they’re about helping you feel more informed, supported, and confident in whatever comes next.
