In-Home Senior Pet Care for Dogs and Cats in Snohomish County

Gentle, in-home veterinary care focused on comfort, mobility, and quality of life for aging pets in western Snohomish County and northern King County.

As pets age, subtle changes in mobility, behavior, appetite, or comfort can raise questions about what is normal and what support may help.

If you’re noticing changes in your pet or want proactive guidance as they age, you’re welcome to request a consultation.

What is in-home senior pet care?

Senior pet care focuses on supporting comfort, mobility, and overall well-being as pets age, with an emphasis on early identification of changes and thoughtful, proactive planning.

The goal is to identify concerns early, improve comfort, and help you better understand how your pet is aging—before issues become urgent.

This visit may be a good fit if your pet is:

  • Slowing down or having more difficulty with mobility
  • Showing stiffness, weakness, or signs of arthritis
  • Sleeping more or interacting differently at home
  • Developing lumps or bumps you would like evaluated
  • Experiencing changes in appetite, weight, or behavior
  • Aging overall, and you want a more thorough discussion than is typically possible in a clinic visit

When should I schedule a senior care visit?

Anytime you are noticing changes—or even if you want to take a proactive approach to your pet’s aging and comfort.

This visit can be helpful if your pet is slowing down, showing subtle changes in behavior or comfort, developing lumps, or simply getting older and you want guidance on what to watch for.

You don’t need to wait for things to feel urgent. This visit is designed to support you early, so you can feel more confident about your pet’s care moving forward.

When is This Visit Helpful

This service is a good fit for:

  • Senior dogs and cats (typically dogs 7+ years, depending on breed and size and cats 10+ years)
  • Pets who are stable but showing age-related changes
  • Families who want proactive guidance and a deeper understanding of their pet’s comfort and needs
  • Pets who are anxious, uncomfortable, or stressed in a clinic setting

If you’re noticing these changes but aren’t sure what is needed, a consultation can help clarify next steps and provide guidance tailored to your pet.

You do not need to determine in advance what type of care your pet needs. This visit allows us to assess your pet and provide guidance based on what we see and what matters most to you.

Scope of Care

Heartkind Home Veterinary Care is a mobile, comfort-focused practice and not a full-service veterinary clinic.

This service is not appropriate for:

  • Vaccines or routine preventative care
  • Spay/neuter or surgical procedures
  • Emergency or urgent care needs
  • Ongoing primary care management

I strongly recommend maintaining a relationship with a full-service primary care veterinarian for wellness care, vaccinations, diagnostics that require a clinic setting, and urgent concerns.

Senior care visits are designed to complement—not replace—your regular veterinarian.

How Senior Care Fits In

Senior care focuses on supporting pets early in the aging process, often before more significant decline is present.

The goal of senior care is to provide proactive guidance and support, helping your pet age as comfortably as possible while also preparing for what may come next.

What is Included in a Visit

Depending on your pet’s needs, this may include:

  • Full in-home physical examination
  • Mobility and comfort assessment
  • Discussion of behavior, appetite, sleep, and daily routines
  • Evaluation of your pet within their home environment
  • Review of current medications, supplements, and medical history
  • Guidance on arthritis, chronic pain, cognitive changes, and other senior concerns
  • Clear recommendations and next steps for monitoring and care

When appropriate, additional services may be offered during the visit, such as:

  • Fine needle aspirates (FNA) of masses
  • Bloodwork and basic diagnostics

Any additional services are optional and discussed with you during the visit.

Why choose an in-home visit for a senior pet?

Many age-related changes are best understood in the home environment, where pets are most comfortable.

An in-home visit allows for:

  • Less stress for your pet
  • More accurate assessment of mobility and behavior
  • A longer, more thoughtful conversation
  • Personalized recommendations based on your pet’s daily life

Consultation Fee

The initial Quality of Life & Care Consultation is $395.

This fee reflects the time, in-home examination, and individualized guidance provided during the visit.

If labwork or additional procedures are recommended, those are optional and priced separately.

A Thoughtful Approach to Aging Pets

Aging pets often benefit from a different pace of care—one that allows time to notice subtle changes, ask questions, and think ahead.

My goal is to help you understand your pet’s changing needs and support them with clarity, compassion, and practical guidance—so you can feel more confident in the care decisions ahead.
